Step 2 – P-Tex
P-Tex is used when those nasty spring rocks (or jibs) tear through the base of your board and the inners come spilling out making a right mess, somewhat like a scene from Apocalypse now. Well that may well be a huge over reaction but you get the idea.
First you’re going to need a few simple tools:
Lighter or turbo flame
Little bit of sandpaper
Knife
Using the knife, remove all the bits of base petruding from the area in question, be careful here as its hard to get hold of three finger gloves. Once you’ve done that, finish cleaning the area with sandpaper. Now you’re ready for the p-tex. Hold the lighter under one end of the P-tex stick until it starts burning by itself. Once alight drip the liquid into the required area (overfilling slightly), then let your board sit and cool. To finish, remove the excess P-tex with the scraper and maybe a little sandpaper.
Check back next week for another instalment!
